Stage 1. A consolidated report on the current knowledge & integration of SDGs/NEB/European Green Deal across the EU area in HE Art & Design Studies
The report will further identify & evaluate: Educational & Training needs of target groups; current integration of SDGs in HE Art & Design Education; current course structures; and knowledge across students, graduates, educators & working professionals in SDGs & the NEB, in the participating countries & the EU in general. This will be achieved through: Desk research & analysis of current design courses, availability of Micro-credentials & the identification of key gaps & themes; Surveys, delivered across the target groups by partners & partners networks; and Focus Groups consisting of current students, working professionals, industry, and educators in the field of Art & Design.
Stage 2. Art & Design based Micro-Credential Courses & Complementary Workshops
Courses focusing on the skills deemed necessary for the green transition in Interior, Graphic and Fashion Design will be developed based on the findings of the consolidated report in combination with partners’ input, expertise & knowledge of the area. Courses will be able to work independently rendering them time-effective and customized to the personal needs of each participant.
LEARNING MATERIAL to be developed (but not be limited to) includes: theoretical course content; videos; case studies; supportive quizzes; assignments; further resources
WORKSHOP MATERIALS include: practical case studies; co-creative projects; conceptual or physical prototype design outcomes; role play based upon the course theme and asynchronous learning material.
COURSE THEMES may include (but not be limited to): Material Re-Utilization & Innovation; Wellbeing; Social Inclusion/Fairness; Online Media; Cradle-to-Cradle/Circular Economy; Biophilic design; Material health, etc.
Stage 3. A Consolidated Report outlining recommendations for Alternative spaces of learning for Art & Design Education in line with the NEB.
In line with the NEB various alternative spaces of learning will be explored, observed, and documented as potential sites for alternative learning in Arts & Design Education and as for the conduction of workshops (green spaces, public spaces, transdisciplinary spaces, cultural spaces/libraries etc online spaces etc.), as well as being facilitators for co-design experiences, multidisciplinary projects, and places to meetup, discuss and demonstrate the ideals of the NEB. Recommendations in the consolidated report will provide a document which highlights these developments not only as spaces providing opportunities to current students but also as flexible and easily attainable solutions to working professionals who wish to upskill or reskill.
Stage 4. An E-learning platform
The e-learning platform will host all course material which will be translated into visual content and partner languages. It will be based on an asynchronous model where users can access course content and complete the requirements within their own time frame. This model provides a flexible learning experience and learning opportunities of smaller volumes, allowing students to choose a larger number of reduced load courses.
Stage 5. A Digital Interactive Toolkit
The open access toolkit will include all Course Material (Developed under WP2), Educator and User Instructions, Workshop Materials and Step by Step Instructions, Case Studies and further resources. The toolkit will also include a condensed version of the reports on the current knowledge of SDGs/NEB and European Green Deal as well as the report outlining the alternative spaces of learning within Art & Design Education, providing the means for Educators to choose the correct physical spaces of learning for workshop delivery (Full versions will be available on the project website)
Stage 6. Pilot Courses (online) and Workshops (co-design projects in alternative spaces of learning) based on the NEB
Users will enroll in the applied e-learning platform. Participants will include HE Art & Design Students and Current creative sector professionals and recent graduates across a variety of disciplines including Interior, Graphic, and Fashion Design will pilot the courses and workshops. Participants will undertake the online modules within a given timeframe following an online asynchronous model (34-hrs). At the second stage they will be present at a workshop lasting 16 hrs conducted in an alternative space of learning.
Stage 7. Trained Educators with improved skills in sustainable competences and training in the e-learning platform and micro-credential courses, workshops and course delivery.
Art & Design Educators will be trained in the toolkit (WP3) content and the hybrid spaces of learning, through the toolkit resources resulting in the upskilling of educators in the design sector. This stage will also play a pivotal role in the future of Art and Design Education and the sustainable competences of Educators, thus influencing the direction of future courses and design project briefs.
Stage 8. Finalized Consolidated Project Report
The report will identify and evaluate: the training workshops and the pilot of developed courses. The report will additionally outline any additional educational and training needs identified through the study to make the appropriate amendments to courses and training.
